Design
KaiZen's design is a fusion of the past and present; its lines based
on the classic elements of a Japanese tea house with an adjoining
Zen garden and bamboo grove.
KaiZen
will feature modernist couches and banquettes, an open kitchen with
white marble sushi counters, polished cement floors, blonde wood
and rough stone accents, shoji screens, glass and steel construction
and murals of classic Japanese landscapes.
Unlike
most Manhattan spaces, this corner property is roughly square (approximately
50' X 50'). This empty parcel gives us the rare opportunity to create
a unique environment anew, unencumbered by the "vanilla box"
confines of most commercial properties -- all for the same amount
of money that most restaurants spend on their renovations!
Prefabricated
modular construction and 'off-the-shelf' insulated glass and steel
components reduce construction time and keep construction costs
unusually low.
Integrated solar
panel roofing (to power a low voltage/LED lighting system) and
an floor embedded radiant
heating system will dramatically reduce utility costs. KaiZen
will be New York City's first solar powered restaurant.
